Johnson made his Premier League debut for West Ham in 2003. 6 months later he was bought by Chelsea for £6 million as the first signing of the Roman Abramovich era. As part of that squad he won the 2004-05 Premier League and the 2005 League Cup Final. He then moved to Portsmouth on loan for the 2006-07 season which worked out well for both parties and saw the move made permanent for around £4 million. 99 appearances and an FA Cup final victory later Glen was bought by Liverpool for £17.5 million. It was with Liverpool that Glen settled for the longest part of his career and established himself as one of the countries best defenders over his 6 years at Anfield. During his career Glen played 54 times for England, going to two World Cups (2010 & 2014) and a Euros (2012).
