Izzet played as a midfielder for the whole of his career and quickly became a regular in the Leicester City side, playing in both the 1998-99 and 1999-2000 League Cup Finals. His father was born in Turkey and came to England as a young boy, and Izzet consequently made nine appearances for the Turkish national team.
